Why Doesn't My Korean Lash Lift Last? The Real Reasons
Why doesn’t my Korean lash lift hold? The real reasons
May 16, 2026
Your Korean lash lift falls after 2 weeks instead of 6? Your lashes don’t hold the curl? Your clients come back disappointed? You’re not alone.
The Korean lash lift has become the number one technique in France to enhance the eyes without extensions. Gentler, more natural, longer-lasting than the classic lash lift… in theory. Because in practice, many professionals struggle to achieve a 6 to 8 week hold as promised.
If your result doesn’t last, there is definitely one (or more) reason(s). Let’s review them.
Korean lash lift: a precise technique that requires skill and good products.
1. The quality of the products used
This is THE number one cause. Many technicians use kits bought on marketplaces without traceability, with harsh or poorly dosed chemical formulations.
A good Korean lash lift product must contain next-generation active ingredients like cysteamine (gentler than classic thioglycolate) and maintain a precise pH to open the disulfide bonds of the lashes without damaging them.
If your product is low quality, even the best technique in the world won’t give a lasting result.

Common mistake: always using the same pad size on all clients. Yet, every eye is different.
- Pad too small — curve too tight, lashes fall quickly
- Pad too large — insufficient curve, invisible effect from the first week
- Poorly positioned pad — lifting during application, guaranteed disaster
Golden rule: the pad must cover up to the lash tips, without going beyond or falling short.
3. Incorrectly calculated setting time
The setting time depends on several factors:
- Natural lash thickness (thin lashes = less time)
- Ethnic origin (Asian lashes often straighter, require more time)
- Lash condition (already fragile lashes = reduced time)
- Room temperature (cold slows the chemical reaction)
The great strength of the Korean lash lift is its flexibility: you can adjust the setting time between 8 and 15 minutes for Step 1, depending on the lash diagnosis.
Lash diagnosis before application is the most underestimated step.
4. The glue or fixing balm
If the lashes are not perfectly fixed on the pad, they won’t take the right curl. Worse: they can cross and create an unsightly effect.
Many technicians still use water-based glues that dry too fast or don’t hold properly. The new generation of products offers glue-free balms, gentler, more precise, and allowing easy repositioning during application.
5. Drying and rinsing
After Step 2 (the fixer), many technicians rinse immediately. Mistake. The fixer must act deeply to reform the disulfide bonds in their new position.
Pro tip: let the fixer set for at least 8 to 10 minutes, then gently remove it dry with a cotton swab before any rinsing. This helps fix the curl deeply.
6. Neglected aftercare
A Korean lash lift opens the lash keratin. You absolutely must close and nourish it with a protein treatment at the end of the service (Step 3 or regenerator).
Without this step, the lashes remain fragile, lose their curl after 2 to 3 weeks, and can even become brittle.
7. Post-service advice for the client
Even with the best technique in the world, if your client:
- Wets their lashes within 24 hours
- Rubs their eyes
- Sleeps on the stomach
